What's Old is New

The sun is out today, I'm so happy! It's pretty windy and still only 60 degrees or so but I'm so glad for some sunshine.  It makes me feel like spring is actually here-- which of course it technically is.  To celebrate the cheery, sunny weather I decided to wear a vintage skirt that I adore.  I can't fully say it's mine because it's really not, my Mom has been kind enough to loan it to me. -^_^-

My Mom bought this skirt in the late 70's-early 80's and I absolutely love wearing it.  I know you can't tell in these pictures, but there is a slit in the front all the way up to the lowest button-- which I think makes the skirt so much more breezy and wearable.  It is really cute but there's just also something special about wearing something that your Mother wore.  It just feels right and good.  I hope that if I have a daughter someday, I can pass this skirt down to her as well.

I'm very excited because my Mom also has some dresses and a pair of old bell bottoms (Yes, you read that right. Authentic 70's bell bottom jeans) in storage.  I went through the dresses before as a young teenager but I only saw their dress-up or theatrical value then.  I can't wait to get them out of storage and go through them again-- especially to see if those bell bottoms fit!  Whatever my Mom allows me to borrow I will be thoroughly grateful for. :)

The locket I'm wearing is one that my paternal grandmother owned.  It folds outward and has four spaces for pictures-- she filled them with a picture of myself, my brother and my two cousins.  After my grandmother passed away I was really blessed to be able to choose some of her jewelry to have as my own.

I adore these little yellow 40's-ish heels!  I'm a bluish-green eyed, pale skinned brunette so I can't pull off yellow clothing very well (which kills me because I love yellow!).  Needless to say I was thrilled when I saw these the first time. :) I was a bit worried they wouldn't go with very much, but they DO!  Plus, anything remotely 40's looking makes me happy!

I hope you all had a great Tuesday, thanks for reading!

  10. Sweetie, you so definitely CAN pull off yellow!

I am asian with a yellow skin tone and technically even more not suited to yellow but it's one of my favourite colors!!! And nothing stops me wearing it hehe.

Love your skirt, it's one of the prettiest vintage skirts if not the prettiest I have ever seen. The color and detailing are perfect and just my cup of tea as well.

That necklace is awesome, I love that it belonged to your grandma, and when you wear it, it's just like she is there next to your heart. :)
