Spring Itch

Hey there great blue yonder!

I have been recently SO looking forward to Spring!  Maybe it's because Chicago finally got some lovely snow (my Winter bucket-list completed), or perhaps it's just because I miss running out of the house without a coat!  Whatever the reason, the itch has caused me to begin re-styling some of my shop stock for Spring!  I've even added a couple new floral items as well,  care to take a look?

50's floral skirt / Peach + Mustard + Sage

Vintage 70's Tulip Wrap Dress / Periwinkle + Green

Vintage 60's Cotton Rose Sundress

I know it's only February (which means plenty of more cold and snow ahead) but I can't help but itch for flowers, sunshine and the ability to go sans-tights again!  What are your favorite things about Spring?

Erin Go Bragh

If you are completely confused by that title, you are most likely not of Irish decent (Erin Go Bragh is the anglicized version of the Gaelic expression that means "Ireland forever!").  That is OKAY though because today everyone is a little Irish-- Happy St. Patrick's Day! -^_^-  My family is quite Irish on both sides so I take this holiday to heart and usually dress from head to toe in kelly green.  This year though, I decided to go a little more subtle with my green.

This Saint Patrick's day I had some grand plans in mind but unfortunately didn't plan enough in advance.  My original plans included lunch at Publican Quality Meats (my brother works there!) followed by hitting some thrift shops and such.  When I got to the train station however, the sheer madness that is St. Pat's day crowds headed downtown made me change my mind.  I swear there were hundreds of green clad people on the platform!

So instead, my Mom and I ended up grabbing lunch at a local Italian place (yikes, not very Irish of me I know!) and checking out some thrift and vintage shops nearby.  All-in-all a great St. Pats, just not what I had imagined!  Next year I think I'll host a party and make some of this and this among other things. Yum!  How did you celebrate St. Patrick's day?

Spring Tea Party

I'm one of those people who has always wanted to host (and loves to go to) theme parties.  This includes decade themes, color themes, holiday themes, random themes...any theme as long as dressing up is involved {can you tell that's my favorite part?!). -^_^-  One such theme party that I've always wanted to have is a Tea Party (not this kind, despite how cool it was)!

So I'm finally having one this spring, and I decided to show some of the planning and such on my blog!  Not only will it help me get organized, I can {hopefully} also get some unbiased, helpful feedback!

Right now I'm on step # 1, which in my mind consists of:
  • Set the date (duh).
  • Gather inspiration.
  • Create an invitation.
  • Send that puppy out!
The date has been set, so onto Inspiration (which I have gained a plethora of just in February alone.  Thanks internet!).  All the pictures below are linked to their sources.

Pretty centerpiece for a table!  I love peonies, too bad it's not spring already because I have a huge bush of them in my front yard!  I also love that they incorporated old books into the decor.

Of course, every tea party needs tea cups (I need that little yellow one please)!  I love the look of many different patterns and colors of tea cups together, it's an observation in imperfect beauty. :)  I'm hoping to find some on one of my weekend estate sale adventures, I'll let you know how that goes.

And then there is food!  I've decided to ask each of my guests to bring a "tea party treat" as well as a box of their favorite tea to share with everyone else.  I think I'll probably make some sort of sandwiches for my treat because I know majority of folks will probably bring sweets!

That's just a bit of my inspiration for the party, if you are interested you can follow my Tea Party inspiration board on Pinterest!

My next Tea Party post will be on creating invitations, stay tuned and have a great weekend (err, after Friday that is)!
